As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, it is appropriate to retrace some of the events that allowed the journal to become a reality. Its evolution certainly was not accomplished without some challenges along the way and of course not without the commitment and effort of a number of individuals.
The history of the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery can be traced back to a small informal dinner at the now-defunct Gordon Restaurant in Chicago, Illinois, in 1992. During the evening's conversation the topic of the importance and desirability of a dedicated journal in facial plastic surgery was discussed.
