Management of the Overprojected Nasal Tip

INTRODUCTION

I was very pleased to be asked to comment on the article by Soliemanzadeh and Kridel1 regarding the management of the overprojected nasal tip. The article is a retrospective evaluation of 120 patients, after the exclusion of 10 patients from the original series. This article is predominantly descriptive, and although methods for measuring tip projection are discussed, no data are presented for the outcome evaluation of the changes except for the complications and their management. The article, however, is an excellent technique review of a controlled method of rotation and deprojection without compromising the residual integrity of the nasal tip tripod.

Analysis is always the key to plan a successful outcome, and the concept of "a balanced rhinoplasty" is very important in modern surgery; hence the authors' description of a radix and dorsal line assessment in evaluating whether a true or a relative overprojection exists.
