It is an honor to review Principles of Nasal Reconstruction. This book describes the extensive experience of its senior author with these complex techniques. The foreword acknowledges the seminal contributions of Gary Burget, MD, and Fred Menick, MD. Dr Baker and his contributors show the reader "how" to reconstruct nasal defects in 3 sections: (1) Fundamentals, (2) Techniques, and (3) Representative Cases.

The Technique section is particularly useful. Quality photographs and color illustrations demonstrate each step. My favorite chapter is "Intranasal Flaps." The subtleties of the bipedicle vestibular advancement flap; ipsilateral and contralateral septal hinge flaps; septal composite chondromucosal pivotal flaps to the tip, columella, and dorsum; and turbinate flaps are well described. The chapter on the subcutaneous hinge cheek flap presents an important and probably underutilized technique.
