I read the article titled "Trends in Functional Rhinoplasty" by Dr Most1 with interest. Trying to comprehensively deal with this broad subject in only a few pages is clearly a challenging prospect, given the variable nature of the patient populations with what may be predominantly aesthetic or alternatively obstructive indications at different ages, not to mention the complexities of revisional and reconstructive surgery.

Most's report seems partially a review article, but it also introduces a new description type for functional issues. I am concerned that the less experienced clinician may possibly misinterpret some of the information put forward. I mention this because commentary in the section titled "External Valve Collapse"1(p410) is made, and then without any change in heading, there is an elucidation of the "more descriptive term"1(p411) being "lateral wall collapse,"1(p411) which is subsequently classified into 2 zones.
