In Skin Flaps in Facial Surgery, Buchen provides a concise and practical guide to flaps in facial reconstruction. He draws from his years of clinical experience as well as his experience educating residents and other physicians to present a book that the novice will find instructive and the experienced surgeon will find a useful reference. The book is concise at just over 200 pages, easy to read, and includes many photographs and illustrations (more than 500). With few exceptions, the photographs and figures are of high quality and the captions instructive. There are also many preoperative and postoperative photographs showing both good and poor outcomes, which help to demonstrate to the inexperienced surgeon how a particular reconstructive option may lead to unforeseen complications.
